The Highway 40 service road at St-John’s Blvd. as well as the overpass have reopened after a brief closure on Thursday afternoon because of debris falling from the overpass.
Transport Quebec closed the overpass after the city of Pointe Claire closed the service road so that engineers could do a proper inspection of the structure, said TQ spokesperson Mario St-Pierre.
The problems were first brought to the attention of Pointe Claire at noon. Police were on site shortly thereafter for the first detour.
Once Transport Quebec arrived, the busy overpass was also shut down to traffic.
“There are procedures to follow when you have falling concrete the size of baseballs,” St-Pierre said.
Both the service road and the overpass were open again at 2:20 p.m.
