EDMUNDSTON, N.B. — An accident involving 15 motorcycles and an RV led to one death and many injuries around 7:15 p.m. Friday on Route 144 not far from camping grounds in St-Basile in Edmundston, N.B., near the border of Témiscouata.

Citizens said they saw motorcyclists wearing Hells Angels colours, but this information was not confirmed Friday night by police. Head of police Gilles Lee will report Saturday.

One resident near the crash told Presse Canadienne the victim is a motorcyclist and the death was noted on site.

This person, who wishes to remain anonymous, said the driver of the RV played no role in the accident, having stopped before entering the campground.

It looked like the motorcyclists crashed into the RV, which had put on its flashers, the same person said.

People in the area quickly came to aid the injured bikers. Resuscitation efforts to save one of the bikers were unsuccessful.

One source said there were eight injured and transported to the regional hospital in Edmundston.

The state of their injuries was unknown Friday night.

The route was closed for over three hours.
