Montreal police arrested two people Thursday night after raiding a building in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve suspected of being a hub for the purchase and consumption of drugs.
The East Division’s Section des enquêtes multidisciplinaires et coordination jeunesse, with the assistance of officers from the local police station, Station 23, carried out the operation in a building on Ste-Catherine St.
One man and one woman were charged with possession with intent to traffic as well as trafficking of illicit drugs. Both of them were to appear in court Friday. The police also seized thirty rocks of crack cocaine, as well as a small amount of other drugs. Officers dispersed the fifteen or so users who were present in the building.
Police began investigating after numerous calls from concerned residents. The accused and the location of the raid were known to police.
