The autopsy of a young child found dead in a car in St-Jérome Wednesday has been performed, and the case is being passed to the crown prosecutor, the Sûreté de Québec has confirmed.
“We are now at the step (where we) collect all the information, to be able to submit to the crown prosecutor eventually,” said Anne Mathieu, a spokesperson for the SQ. “He’s going to study to file, to decide if some accusations could be brought up or not.”
Mathieu confirmed that the autopsy was performed but would not disclose the cause of death, as the information is among the files to be presented to the prosecutor. The SQ would not confirm media reports that the child was left in the car the entire day.
The boy, who was less than a year old, was found dead in a car parked on Des Prés St., near the Centre de la petite enfance Notre-Dame daycare.
