Sunday marks the beginning of an awareness week to sensitize kids and their parents in on how to handle intimidation and violence, and Sûreté du Québec wants them to be aware of the resources available to combat cyberbullying and sexual exploitation.
The SQ says these phenomenons have grown in recent years thanks to new technology. And as much as these things happen in a virtual world, these criminals acts have real victims.
To learn about cyberbullying and how to protect yourself, the public has access to many resources, which are available online at the SQ’s website, as well the Canadian Centre for Child Protection and Cyberaide.ca.
Youth and their parents can find out how to manage risk and what actions to take when they have been the victim of cyberbullying.
Anyone can signal a concern about the sexual exploitation of a minor to Canada’s tipline to report the online sexual exploitation of children at cyberaide.ca.
