Man dies after apparent police shooting in Île-Perrot

A man died Sunday after being hit with at least one bullet that is alleged to have been fired by a Sûreté du Québec police officer in Île-Perrot.

The Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI) called on Montreal police to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

SQ officers answered a call about a man threatening suicide, the BEI said. They traced his cellphone to his home. When they arrived, a man with a knife rushed them, the BEI said, and shots were fired. The man died of his injuries.
