Residents of Vaudreuil-Dorion are being told not to drink the water directly from their taps.
The city says residents must boil their water for at least a minute before consuming it. While the city said residents can use the water safely to shower or wash dishes, they should not use tap water to clean and prepare raw food, such as fruits and vegetables.
The city will send out a notice once the water is deemed safe to drink.
