LAC-BEAUPORT — The main building of a well-known sports centre in the Quebec City area, Mont Tourbillon, was destroyed by a fire that started Tuesday night.
The fire started around 11 p.m. It is not known why the fire started, but it was still burning at 6 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters expected it to take several more hours to get the blaze under control.
The main building of Mont Tourbillon could accommodate up to 600 people. The centre also features an 18-hole golf course and a snow slide. The Lac-Beauport centre was founded in 1962 and has been owned by Michel Noël since 1977.
