Former Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban will be receive a meritorious service decoration during a ceremony Wednesday, alongside a dozen other volunteers who will be recognized for their work.
The ceremony will take place at the P.K. Subban Atrium of the Montreal Children’s Hospital. The Meritorious Service Decoration, Civil Division, was established to to recognize role models who “respond to a particular challenge faced by a community,” according to a press release from the governor-general’s office.
The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, which will be presented to a dozen Quebecers, “pays tribute to the dedication and exemplary commitment of volunteers.”
The volunteers who will stand alongside Subban, who now plays for the Nashville Predators, are:
