Quebec will spend $1.4 billion fixing provincial roadways in Montreal over the next two years.

That’s almost 30 per cent of the $4.9 billion to be spent across the province, Quebec Transport Minister Robert Poëti announced Monday.

The most-expensive work on Montreal Island will be repairs to the Turcot and Dorval Interchanges.

In each of those projects, Quebec expects to spend more than $50 million.

Other big projects include Highway 13 (removing paralumes and repaving), the Highway 13/40 Interchange, the Décarie Interchange/Metropolitan Autoroute, Highway 40 on the West Island and Ville-Marie Expressway tunnels.

In those cases, the province’s plan calls for spending of between $25 million and $50 million.

The $1.4 billion total for Montreal includes almost $37 million that will come from partners, including Ottawa and the city of Montreal.

The timing of the roadwork was not announced.

Last year, the previous Parti Québécois government announced it would spend $1.3 billion on provincial roads in Montreal in 2013-2015. Across the province, the total was to be $5.6 billion.
