A taxi driver was assaulted and his car stolen by his passenger in the centre of Lachute, 80 kilometres northeast of Montreal.
The taxi driver responded to a call on Burroughs St., shortly after a man in his 30s got inside, he attacked the driver with a sharp object about 2:30 a.m. Monday, said Sûreté du Québec Sgt. Marc Tessier.
The taxi driver suffered minor injuries, but he was forced out of the car, and his attacker drove away. The car was found abandoned nearby a short time later by police, and a man was arrested early Monday.
